Welcome to our FAQ page! Here, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about our newborn and cake smash photography sessions in Bristol. If you have any other questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to contact us!
1. When is the best time to book a newborn photography session??
The best time to book your newborn photography session is during your second trimester of pregnancy. We recommend scheduling your session by the time you are around 30-32 weeks pregnant to ensure we have availability around your due date. Ideally, we like to photograph newborns when they are between 5-14 days old, as they are typically sleepier and more flexible during this time. We also offer a discount off packages if you book by paying your deposit whilst you are still pregnant.
2. How long does a newborn photography session take?
Newborn sessions generally take between 2-4 hours, depending on how comfortable your baby is and how many setups or poses we do. We allow plenty of time for feedings, diaper changes, and comfort breaks to ensure a relaxed experience for both you and your baby.
3. What should I bring to my newborn photoshoot?
We provide all the props, blankets, and accessories needed for your newborn session. However, feel free to bring any special items you’d like to include, such as a family heirloom, special blankets, or personal keepsakes. We also recommend bringing extra diapers, wipes, and any baby necessities to keep your little one comfortable.
4. How do I prepare my baby for the photoshoot?
To ensure your baby is as relaxed as possible, we recommend feeding your baby just before the session, ideally when you arrive at the studio and dressing them in loose, easy-to-remove clothing. A well-fed and sleepy baby will be easier to pose and photograph. If possible, try to keep your baby awake for a short time before the session to encourage sleep during the photoshoot.
5. Can parents and siblings be included in the newborn photos?
Absolutely! We love including parents and siblings in the session, as these photos are often cherished memories. If you’d like family portraits, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. The newborn session will primarily focus on your baby, but we’re happy to capture beautiful family moments as well.
6. What is a cake smash session?
A cake smash session is a fun and playful photoshoot designed to celebrate your baby’s first birthday. We provide a delicious cake, themed decorations, and props to create a joyful, vibrant atmosphere. Your baby gets to explore the cake (often with some messy and hilarious results!) while we capture the fun, laughter, and pure joy of this special milestone.
